Phytocannabinoids are chemicals found in cannabis that are similar to the endocannabinoids produced in the body. Beyond producing cannabinoids, the ECS is also responsible for the expression of receptors throughout the vertebrate central nervous system, including the brain, and peripheral nervous system.
